Police Sub-Inspector Killed in Panjgur Attack

Panjgur: A police sub-inspector was shot dead late Sunday when gunmen opened fire on a patrol unit in Chitkan Bazaar, Panjgur, officials confirmed.

Sub-Inspector Shakeel Ahmed sustained fatal injuries during the attack, which occurred while his team was conducting a routine patrol, authorities said. The assailants fled the scene before additional police reinforcements could arrive.

Ahmed’s body was transported to a nearby hospital as forensic teams began gathering evidence from the crime scene.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, expressing condolences to the officer’s family.

“Sub-Inspector Shakeel Ahmed’s sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten. Our thoughts are with his family,” Naqvi said in a statement.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Panjgur, situated in Balochistan province, has seen sporadic violence in recent years, with security forces frequently targeted in such assaults.
