PTI Approves Omar Ayub’s Resignation Amid Party Reshuffle

In the wake of a major reshuffle and restructuring, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has approved Omar Ayub’s resignation as the party’s secretary general. Ayub, who also serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, confirmed that he had requested his colleague Shibli Faraz to personally deliver his resignation to the party’s founder.

“I am grateful to the party’s founder for approving my resignation,” Ayub stated. “I initially submitted my resignation from the post of secretary general on September 5, and it has now been formally accepted.” He further disclosed that a previous resignation, submitted on June 22, had not been approved.

Explaining his decision, Ayub cited the overwhelming workload of balancing his duties as opposition leader, managing legal cases, and handling responsibilities as the party’s secretary general. “I will, however, continue to serve as a committed party worker alongside the PTI founder,” he added.

In light of the resignation, PTI’s founder has made key changes to the party’s administrative structure. Prominent lawyer Salman Akram Raja has been appointed as the new secretary general and will assume the role immediately, according to party sources.

The PTI leadership has also separated parliamentary affairs from practical politics. Omar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz will lead the parliamentary team, while Raoof Hassan will oversee the party’s think tank.
