PSO’s Outstanding Dues Reach Rs 786 Billion Amid Financial Strain
The outstanding dues owed to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) by various sectors have surged to a staggering Rs 786 billion, ARY News reported, citing sources.
The bulk of this debt comes from the import bill for Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RNLG), which has exceeded Rs 506 billion. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is the largest debtor, owing PSO Rs 506 billion for LNG supplies.
The power sector also adds to PSO’s financial challenges, with dues now surpassing Rs 186 billion, while Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) owes Rs 28.75 billion.
Adding to the pressure is the devaluation of the rupee, which has placed an additional burden of Rs 88.84 billion on the government. Despite these mounting dues, only Rs 10 billion has been paid to PSO over the past month, highlighting the company’s severe cash flow issues.
