PHC Grants Transit Bail to KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday approved the transit bail of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, preventing his arrest in ongoing cases against him.

A two-member bench of the PHC heard the bail plea and directed authorities not to detain the chief minister in any of the cases registered. The court emphasized that the bail was granted considering the petitioner’s status as the chief minister of a province.

This ruling follows a decision from an Islamabad Session Court, which yesterday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Gandapur in connection with an arms and liquor recovery case. Despite Gandapur’s request for an exemption from appearing due to medical reasons, Judge Shaista Khan Kundi rejected the plea and instructed the Bhara Kahu police station to arrest him and present him in court.

Earlier, the session court had summoned Gandapur regarding the arms and liquor recovery allegations.
