Pakistan’s Test Team Dips to Lowest Ranking Since 1965 After Series Loss

Pakistan has dropped to eighth place in the ICC Test Team Rankings, marking their lowest rating in Test cricket since 1965, following a shocking series defeat at home against Bangladesh.

In a historic result, Bangladesh secured their first-ever series win over Pakistan with a six-wicket triumph in the second Test in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. Chasing a modest target of 185, Bangladesh reached their goal with four wickets down, clinching the series 2-0 just 25 minutes before tea on the final day.

This back-to-back loss to Bangladesh has led to Pakistan’s fall from sixth place in the rankings, now standing at eighth with 76 rating points.

The ICC confirmed this drop, noting that Pakistan’s position has deteriorated significantly from their earlier standing before the series. The drop is the most substantial the team has experienced since 1965, excluding a brief period when they were absent from the rankings due to an insufficient number of matches.
