Akhtar Mengal Resigns from National Assembly Over Neglect of Balochistan’s Issues
Balochistan’s senior politician, Akhtar Mengal, announced his resignation from the National Assembly on Tuesday, citing frustration over the lack of attention to Balochistan’s issues. Mengal made the announcement during a press briefing at the Parliament, alongside fellow politician Mehmood Khan Achakzai.
Mengal expressed his disappointment with the Assembly’s disinterest in addressing the problems facing Balochistan, stating, “I had decided today to speak in the Assembly about Balochistan’s problems, but there is no interest in Balochistan’s matters.”
He further criticized the absence of an open dialogue and the failure to convene a meeting to discuss the region’s concerns. Mengal’s resignation highlights ongoing grievances regarding the treatment and representation of Balochistan in the national political arena.
