Murad Ali Shah Inspects Flood Readiness in Sujawal Amid Monsoon Threat

Sujawal: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced that the monsoon weather system, after passing through Bangladesh and India, has now reached Sindh.

Speaking to the media at the Sujawal-Thatta Bridge during his visit to Sujawal district, CM Shah assessed the preparations for tackling the rain emergency.

He reported that Tharparkar has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two days, and warned that several districts, including Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Umarkot, Sanghar, and Shaheed Benazirabad, are at higher risk from the stormy weather system.

The chief minister noted that continuous heavy rainfall poses a significant challenge to effective rainwater drainage in the affected areas.

Addressing the ongoing recovery efforts from the 2022 heavy rains and floods, CM Shah highlighted his government’s efforts to construct 2.1 million housing units for approximately 12 million people affected by the disaster. “We have completed 200,000 houses, with another 600,000 homes currently under construction,” he said.

During his visit, CM Shah was received by Provincial Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani and other officials. Accompanied by members of the provincial cabinet, he inspected several areas, including the water flow at Dolah Darya Khan Bridge over the Indus River, as part of his visit to assess the situation and ensure preparedness for the monsoon challenges ahead.
