Main Culprit Behind Rahim Yar Khan Rocket Attack Neutralized, Says Punjab Police
RAHIM YAR KHAN: The Punjab police announced on Friday that the main suspect behind a deadly rocket attack in the Machka area of Rahim Yar Khan District, which claimed the lives of 12 police officers, has been killed.
In a retaliatory operation following Thursday’s attack, the police confirmed that the key suspect, Bashir Shar, was neutralized, while five of his accomplices sustained injuries. “Punjab police retaliated in response to the attack by terrorists in the kutcha areas. The main suspect who attacked policemen yesterday, Bashir Shar, has reached his logical end,” the police stated in a post on X.
The injured accomplices were identified as Sanaullah Shar, Gada Ali, Kamlu Shar, Ramzan Shar, and Gadi.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed Inspector General Anwar and other senior officials to oversee the situation in Rahim Yar Khan. In a show of solidarity, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah instructed his provincial police chief to coordinate with the Punjab Police and offer any necessary assistance.
The incident and the subsequent police response underscore the ongoing challenges in maintaining security in the kutcha areas, which have been hotspots for criminal activity.
