Torrential Rains Claim 18 Lives in Balochistan, Devastate Infrastructure and Crops
QUETTA – Torrential rains sweeping across Balochistan have resulted in the tragic loss of at least 18 lives, according to a report from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), as cited by ARY News.
Since the onset of the rains on July 1, widespread damage has been reported across the province, severely impacting infrastructure and agriculture. The PDMA’s report highlights that 2,919 houses have been damaged, with 124 completely destroyed and 293 partially damaged.
The heavy rains have also taken a toll on agriculture, with 97 acres of crops affected. In addition, 31 kilometers of roads and six bridges have suffered partial damage, disrupting transportation and connectivity in the region.
The devastation extends to livestock, with 120 animals reported dead due to the harsh weather conditions.
As Balochistan continues to grapple with the aftermath of the torrential rains, authorities are working to assess the full extent of the damage and provide relief to those affected.
