Omar Ayub Rejects Hammad Azhar’s Resignation as Punjab President; Azhar Stands Firm
LAHORE – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Omar Ayub on Thursday rejected the resignation of Hammad Azhar as the party’s Punjab president, but Azhar remained resolute in his decision to step down.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ayub expressed his appreciation for Azhar’s dedication, stating, “Hammad Azhar, you have worked tirelessly for the party and PM Imran Khan sahib. Resignation not accepted.”
However, Azhar responded by reaffirming his decision to resign, citing a lack of authority despite bearing full responsibility in his role. “I am humbled by your confidence in me. But it is my firm decision to not continue under the circumstances where I have zero authority but complete responsibility,” Azhar replied.
Azhar also mentioned that restrictions on his movements were among the reasons that led to his resignation, further emphasizing the challenging conditions under which he was expected to operate.
