Imran Khan Distances Himself from Faiz Hameed’s Arrest, Calls It an Internal Army Matter

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan stated on Thursday that the arrest of former ISI chief Faiz Hameed is an “internal matter” of the Pakistan Army, clarifying that he had no involvement in it.

Speaking informally with journalists at Adiala Jail, Khan remarked, “I have no connections with Faiz Hameed’s arrest.”

While acknowledging the importance of accountability, Khan emphasized, “Holding Gen Faiz Hameed accountable is a good thing, but everyone should be held accountable.” He further added that if Faiz Hameed was involved in the planning and execution of the May 9 events, he should be prosecuted and investigated by a judicial commission.

Khan also mentioned that General (R) Faiz Hameed had strong ties with the Afghan Taliban and maintained contact with their leadership for over three years. He noted that there were significant debates during his tenure regarding the removal of Faiz Hameed as ISI chief.
