PTI Names Sanam Javaid among others for Reserved Seats
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a list of candidates for the reserved seats to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), including Sanam Javaid, Aliya Hamza Malik, and Dr. Yasmin Rashid among others, according to party sources on Friday.
This development follows the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling on July 12, which allowed the former ruling party to claim reserved seats in assemblies, potentially positioning the PTI as the largest parliamentary party.
In its decision, the Supreme Court directed the PTI to submit a list of eligible candidates for reserved seats within 15 days. The ECP was instructed to publish the list on its website within seven days of submission.
Complying with the court’s order, the PTI submitted its list for the national, Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies. The list features 67 names for women’s reserved seats and 11 for minority seats. Notable candidates include Sanam Javaid, Aliya Hamza Malik, Kanwal Shauzab, Rubina Shaheen, and Seemabia Tahir for the National Assembly’s women’s reserved seats. Lal Chand Malhi has been nominated for the minority seat in the National Assembly, while Dr. Yasmin Rashid has been selected for a women’s reserved seat in the Punjab Assembly.
