Sindh Govt Takes Control of Sarim Burney Welfare Trust Amid Child Trafficking Allegations
KARACHI – The Sindh government has taken over the administration of the Sarim Burney Welfare Trust following the arrest of its chief, Sarim Burney, on charges of child trafficking. According to ARY News, the decision was made after Burney was accused of trafficking children from Pakistan to the United States.
The Sindh government’s Department of Social Welfare has issued directives to assume control of the orphanage operations previously managed by Burney. This action follows his arrest on June 5 upon returning from the United States, reportedly at the request of the American Consulate.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Sarim Burney, accusing him of trafficking newborn babies to the U.S. The case has raised significant concerns, prompting the Sindh government to intervene and ensure the welfare of the children under the trust’s care.
